Exciting plans are underway for the inaugural International Festival of Stone, taking place in Dundee from 10–16 August 2026.

Key partners—Historic Environment Scotland, Stone Federation GB, and the Stone Foundation (USA)—are working together to develop a dynamic, international programme. The week-long festival will include live demonstrations, discussions, exhibitions, and hands-on events designed to engage people with stone in all its forms.

Celebrating Stone: Past, Present and Future

Our ambition is to create an inclusive and inspiring global gathering that celebrates the heritage, craft, and future of stone. The programme will cater to academics, professionals, tradespeople, artists, architects, and the wider public—offering everything from practical skills demonstrations to thought-provoking talks and public art installations.

We also want the festival to drive meaningful change. We aim to send a strong message to policymakers, planners, and procurement professionals about the urgent need for more sustainable stone sourcing—prioritising indigenous stone and supporting local industry.

Help Shape the Festival

As we build the festival’s foundation, we’re inviting contributions from across the stone community. Before our official launch, we’re seeking ideas, projects and proposals that respond to the following themes:

  • Procurement and supply

  • Structural stone

  • Training and skills

  • Creative uses of stone

  • Heritage and conservation

  • Legacy and sustainability

We’d love to hear from you if:

  • You have a project you’d like to present

  • You have an idea for a temporary structure or installation

  • You want to get involved in planning or delivery

  • You’re interested in attending or supporting the festival

This is your opportunity to help shape a landmark event for the global stone community.
